Guido Anton Muss

A Friend and Loyal Guest at the Waldhotel Tann.

Guido Anton MussThe sculptor Guido Anton Muss was born in 1941 in St. Christina (Gröden/Gardena), and attended the art school in Wolkenstein and St. Ulrich, where he was a pupil of the sculptor Bruno Vinatzer for three years. After attending the art institute in Florence, he acquired the title of "Master of Arts" in Venice. His work has been documented in a large number of important exhibitions in New York, Paris, Geneva, Chicago, Mexico City, Tokyo, etc. In more recent times, his artistry has focused on depicting the female form in wood and bronze. He died in 2003, leaving behind him a vast body of unique masterpieces.
"I have met an angel who caressed me, kissed my brow, and inspired me with a gentle breath of energy: His name is Guido Anton Muss. I could sense the creativity of his fine and sensitive hands, the complete recognition of the gift with which he formed and shaped his sculptures.
His works are conceived in stillness. They are born of the desire to completely lose and then again find one's self. They are completely immersed in the poetry of the gracious curves of the female body. According to Muss, it is there that the soul of love and life is located. It is there that he finds the primeval deity of fecundity, the image of woman which, like the Earth, carries fruit in itself and likewise brings it forth. Nature is the source of strength, and the woman is also a source of strength. The artist celebrates her and lifts her up. He gives her upright shoulders and turns her countenance up towards the heavens, like a flower reaching for the warmth of the sun or to quench its thirst with rainwater. She is open and in harmony with everything."
