The history of our house
Benjamin Vallazza the landlord of the “Unteres Rittnerhorn Haus” wanted, when he got older, to move nearer “civilisation” and, for that reason, he had another small house built.
The place chosen for this house was “auf der Tann” (at the pine forest/wood) which was at the time a well-known pasture land for the animals belonging to the Lengstein farmers and also as the junction of all the important woodland paths and paths to the Alpine pastures. In the summer months of the year 1924, a little house was erected on Tann and completed in the autumn of the same year. The following years were not at all easy for anyone, for those were the years between the two World Wars, the years of the global economic crisis and the beginning of fascism. The house changed hands several times until it was bought in 1946 by the owners of the Gasser farm in Oberinn. Immediately, the children Franz, Hanna and Theresa had to run the business. Due to their industriousness and hospitality to their guests, the house turned fairly quickly into a place where guests liked to meet. Up until that time all food and luggage were taken up to the house in a “Kraxn”(wicker basket carried like a rucksack), or on a horse-drawn cart. It made life a great deal easier when the young landlord, Franz Untermarzoner bought his first cross-country vehicle, for that meant a vast improvement for Tann and those immediately affected. In 1957 he got married to Magdalena, a young and capable woman who, for the next decades stood by him - a brave, hard-working and devoted wife and partner. In 1967 Tann, for the most part, burned down; it was however rebuilt immediately. In the following years, the inn was extended again and again and the service and quality offered in the house improved. As from the beginning of the 1990s, winter tourism has also been expanded to an increased extent and the former inn has developed into a hotel with guests all the year round. As always, the greatest desire of the hotel owners is that their guests feel good in the hotel and that they can relax in peace and quiet.
